  • Chinese art and cultural exchange

    Ann and seven other UK artists have been invited to China for 15 days in September 2019. The purpose of the visit is to promote cultural exchanges between China and UK, and enhance friendship between artists in the different countries . During the visit she will participate in When London Meets Wenzhou :  A Chinese/UK Artists Sketching event and Exhibition in Wenzhou. They will be visiting a series of stunning landscapes to sketch and paint with a view to participating in another exhibition in London with the Chinese artists in 2020.

  • New DVD-‘Experimental Watercolour Workshop’

    Ann’s new dvd, filmed by Townhouse Films, is  based on  some of the ideas  and subjects from her most recent book ‘Watercolour Workshop'( Batsford). The new dvd  is called ‘Experimental Watercolour Workshop’  and  was  published  on May 1 2019.  

    The dvd shows three very comprehensive  demonstrations  of  some of Ann’s favourite nature subjects – with a range of exciting techniques and thought  provoking ideas to inspire you.

  • Society of Women Artists (SWA)

    SOCIETY OF WOMEN ARTISTS 158TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2019

    Ann is a member of the society of women artists but please note that she is taking a year out from exhibiting this year due to other commitments. She will be back next year!

  • Arborealist group shows 2019 and beyond

    Ann is a member of  The Arborealists. They are a group of  professional artists  who often but not exclusively objectify ‘trees’ in their ongoing practice. The group is involved with projects which develop new perceptions of painting and language while promoting the importance of staying connected with nature. Ann is involved with several ongoing group projects  this year including one on Dartmoor and Exmoor in conjunction with the National Park authorities.  The exhibitions showing the eclectic and creative results of this enterprise will be in 2020.

    A Wye Valley Woodland Through Artists’ Eyes

     September  7th 2019- July 12 2020
    Monmouth  Museum,Priory Street, Monmouth, NP25 3XA Wales

    Work is for sale and can be released in December 2019 after which  paintings will be replaced with new ones.  The exhibition is  the result of a collaboration between renowned woodland ecologist George Peterken and The Arborealists. The show focuses on Lady Park Wood.  Left unmanaged for seventy five years, this special wood above a steep gorge has been studied and recorded for decades by George and other scientists. This exhibition presents a rather different view of the wood – from a group of artists encountering it for the first time. Ann is  exhibiting two paintings for sale .

  • Magazines articles

    Ann and her father’s work were featured in several  magazines throughout 2018.

    In April 2018 she wrote an article for Cotswold Life  called ‘Like father, like daughter’ about her own life and painting and those of her late father, John Blockley (1921-2002).

    In May  2018 edition of the Artist magazine there is a series of revised excerpts from her book   ‘Watercolour Workshop’.

    In June 2018 edition of Artist magazine there is a new article   developing  some of the ideas presented   in the final chapter of ‘Watercolour Workshop’ about working in a  style that veers ‘Towards Abstraction’

    In  June 2018 edition of Artist and Illustrator there is an article about Ann written by journalist Sally Hales, following a visit to Ann’s studio. There is also a short extract from Watercolour Workshop.

    In the Summer 2018 edition  of Artist magazine Ann has written a new article about her father and his working practice to coincide with the launch of the new book ‘John Blockley- A Retrospective’
