Expressive interpretations in water-based mediums June 1st & 2nd 2020

2 Day Course

Village Hall, Todenham, near Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, GL56 9PD

June 1st & 2nd  2020

2 days of tuition 10am – 4pm – Students will be invited to stay and play if they wish until 5pm on day one without tuition

This workshop is designed primarily for students who have NOT previously attended Ann’s workshops.

This workshop is based at Todenham village hall in the Cotswolds. Todenham is Ann’s home village and the surrounding countryside is a large source of her inspiration. The two-day informal course combines demonstrations and practical work. It is for people with some watercolour experience and not complete beginners.

The aim is to experiment, loosen up and develop exciting and expressive ways of mark making. The emphasis will be on enjoying the process and not necessarily to create ‘finished’ paintings but to explore ideas and options. You will be encouraged to work loosely and use your imagination to create an atmospheric impressionistic style with which to interpret a range of nature subjects. There will be lots of ideas and inspiration on offer for you to explore including the use of opaque paint, ink and granulation techniques and other ideas and techniques from Ann’s book and DVD ‘Watercolour Workshop’. If you are ‘stuck’, or looking for ideas and inspiration this is the course for you!

There will be several demonstrations using watercolour on paper. Subjects will for example include trees and flowers in the landscape. Techniques can be applied to your own choice of subject if you prefer.

Lunch includes a vegetarian option but if you are vegan, dairy or gluten-free your choice may be limited and you may wish to bring something with you to supplement the lunch provided. There will be a maximum of 14 people on each course.

Please bring your own painting and sketching materials. A list will be sent in your confirmation letter along with full information about the course and a website to help you find accommodation.

A link to your confirmation letter will be emailed to you when you have booked your place. Please download this upon receipt and keep it safe – we don’t send out any further reminders (but you may download the letter again up until the day of the course).
