Finally .. We have moved house and relocated to the wilds of Devon near the river and sea. The house is tucked away down narrow lanes dripping with ferns and hopefully studded with primroses in the Spring. The garden is full of ponds and trees, camellias and hydrangeas. It will be magical one day but needs lots of love attention to bring it back to its former glory. It feels a little bit like how the lost gardens of Heligan in Cornwall started out at the moment and I am spending lockdown waging war on brambles and ivy – which ironically of course I normally love and celebrate in my paintings.
The house also needs lots of love attention lavished on it and I am knee deep in kitchen plans and ideas for bathrooms at the moment. We are kind of camping but happily so and making time for lots of visits to the local estuary and beaches- which are just stunning.I haven’t had time to go to Dartmoor yet but it is within easy reach and I can’t wait ! I’m in conflict over my desire to nest build and wanting to respond to all this fresh inspiration. Missing my beautiful studio but I have a large room for the time being and plans for a purpose built studio next year – so mustn’t complain.
It really does feel like a fresh start and new adventure and we are really looking forward to a time when we can start making new friends and I can begin connecting with other artists in the South West. Now I feel a little bit more settled I will keep you posted on a more regular basis.
