General Course Details
Ann’s informal courses combine demonstrations and practical work. They are for people with some watercolour experience and not complete beginners. However, as you work on your own paintings you can develop them to your own ability and individual and appropriate advice will be offered accordingly. The aim is to experiment, loosen up and develop exciting and expressive ways of mark making . The emphasis will be on enjoying the process and not necessarily to create ‘finished’ paintings but to explore ideas and options. You will be encouraged to work loosely and use your imagination to create an atmospheric impressionistic style with which to interpret landscape, nature and flowers.
There will be lots of ideas and inspiration on offer for you to explore at the workshop or at home including how to change and transform your watercolour using opaque or other mediums. You will create a variety of different washes and unusual textures, stretching the boundaries of watercolour and focusing mainly on techniques with short drying times. If you are ‘stuck’, or looking for ideas and inspiration with which to move your work in a new direction this is the course for you!
Demonstrations will be in watercolour with added ingredients on paper. Subjects will for example include different trees and flowers in the landscape on both workshops with the addition of a loose or textured flower subject on the 2 day workshop.
The workshops are based at Todenham Village Hall. This large attractive hall is in Ann’s home village of Todenham, near Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds. Information about what materials to bring can be downloaded after you book.
Refreshments and a simple ploughman’s style buffet lunch are included. There will be vegetarian options but if you are on a dairy or gluten free diet your choice may be limited and you may wish to bring something with you to supplement the lunch provided. There will be a maximum of 14 people on each course.
Bookings cancelled more than 14 full days before the date of the course will receive a refund of the course fee less a £25 administration fee. Refunds will be made within 14 days of acknowledgement of cancellation.
If a booking is cancelled less than 14 full days before the date of the course no refund will be made unless we can find another student to fill that place. If the place can be filled a £50 administration fee will be deducted from the refund; these refunds will be made within 14 days of the end of the course. Course places may be transferred to friends or family if you’re unable to attend. If a student doesn’t attend the course for whatever reason, no refund will be made.
Notification of cancellation must be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. An acknowledgement will be sent to you by email. The cancellation will not be deemed to have been received until it has been acknowledged by Ann Blockley.
In the unlikely event of cancellation by Ann Blockley, a full refund of the course fee(s) will be made but no further liabilities will be accepted.
